Sustainability & the Environment

CC Cousins is committed to achieving the highest levels of social and environmental sustainability and holds BS EN ISO 14001:2004, acknowledging a recognised Environmental Management System.

Such is our dedication to sustainability; in 2009, one of our Managing Directors - Keith Alflatt - took on the role of Sustainability Coordinator, with overall responsibility for ensuring ongoing environmental performance and the identification of environmental risks.
CC Cousins constantly strives to optimise its business processes to ensure sustainable growth and development, while minimising any negative social, environmental or economic impacts.
Methods of Sustainability:
  • Proactively ensuring long-term viability and integrity
  • Optimising resource needs
  • Reducing environmental, energy and social impact
  • Reduction of consumable requirements
  • Management of the above without compromising quality, competitiveness or profitability
  • To comply with and exceed, where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • To integrate sustainability considerations into all business decisions
  • To ensure all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and show a commitment to implementing and improving it
  • To minimise the impact on sustainability by optimising all office, site and transportation processes
  • To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management processes
  • To continually monitor and review our commitment to implementing sustainable business solutions
Special consideration is given to employing local staff, and wherever efficient or environmentally sustainable, products and services are sourced locally.
CC Cousins strives to re-cycle and reuse all waste from our sites. Where this is not possible, due care is shown in respect of waste disposal in accordance with our guidelines and current legislation.
We constantly endeavour to minimise the environmental impact of our works and reduce, where possible, consumption of materials in all works, the effects of noise, dust, disruption and inconvenience to others and, where practicable, the level of pollution and harmful emissions.
